Senior Technical Safety Engineer

Profile:

An experienced engineer in the production of technical safety documentation and studies. Good previous experience in a senior discipline role within the oil and gas sector. Able to respond to changing demands of discipline workload, and to manage work between different contracts. Able to work to deadlines within a team environment. Able to guide more junior engineers.
Familiar with relevant statutory and legislative requirements as applied to discipline deliverables and responsibilities.
Able to produce discipline material specifications and data sheets
Knowledgeable about industry best practice and the use of Technical Safety design and assessment methods
Able to coordinate specialist vendor activities associated with equipment specified byTechnical Safety
Able to produce manhour estimates based on defined scopes

Prime Responsibilities and Duties:

• Checking of Technical Safety engineering documents and drawings in compliance with project procedures
• Undertake surveys if necessary
• Maintain and develop current awareness of relevant Codes and Standards.
• Liaise with other disciplines, departments, project personnel, vendors, etc
• Produce discipline documents according to schedule
• Prepare accurate CTR documents based on defined scopes

Skills/Qualifications

• Familiar with and competent in use of standard Microsoft Office programs, as well as usual technical safety software packages.
• Good knowledge of process facilities on offshore installations and onshore terminals.
• Able to read and understand P&IDs and Cause and Effects Diagrams
• Experienced in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards and statutory regulations
• Knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems
• Able to monitor and report progress against discipline activities
• Good interpersonal skills. Able to work with a multi-discipline team, with good knowledge of inter-discipline matters.
• Motivated and eager to learn and progress within the discipline.
• Degree or postgraduate qualification in safety-related field
• Good written and spoken English
