Technical Safety Engineer

Profile:

A willing worker and fast learner, with some previous experience in a technical safety role within the oil and gas sector. Able to work to deadlines within a multi-discipline environment.


Prime Responsibilities and Duties:

• Involvement in the preparation of offshore Safety Cases and / or COMAH Safety Reports and their supporting Hazard, risk and consequence assessments;
• Undertake offshore survey trips if necessary
• Production of reports and studies using risk management tools and techniques
• Writing or updating safety case or COMAH documents if required
• Scribing at HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and ENVIDs
• Interfacing with other disciplines regarding their deliverables within a project

Skills/Qualifications

• Familiar with and competent in use of, standard Microsoft Office programs, as well as usual technical safety software packages.
• Some knowledge of process facilities on offshore installations and onshore terminals.
• Some knowledge of P&IDs and Cause and Effects Diagrams
• Knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems
• Good interpersonal skills. Able to work with a multi-discipline team, with good knowledge of inter-discipline matters.
• Motivated and eager to learn and progress within the discipline.
• Degree or postgraduate qualification in safety-related field
• Good written and spoken English
